Yet their ability to perform has has taken nose dives,
Now we should be asking why,
The rest of the play styles were designed around certain mechanics that usually eat up more time. Other shooters with short TTK like Kill zone had balance based off of short TTK, Dust did not base things around short TTK, so essentially CCP just put COD mechanics in with Dust's old model.
Instantaneous pin point accuracy with a .1-3.0 second death inducing auto fire without mechanics designed around that functionality is the issue.
Hit detection means two things, greater dps and greater range
Scouts are not hurt in the slightest is you increased the dps to 10000 dps for all I care, our ehp is nothing, bu the massive accuracy and the massive range essentially blocks off scouts from moving and effectively on lock down, which is backwards for a suit that made trade offs for mobility with no real solid stealth.
But essentially, CCP introduced low TTK mechanics without even thinking about the other aspects of the game that were build around a longer TTK.
I don't use the MD but by buffing insane hitboxes, MDs should fire even faster to keep up with the other weapons, this was not changed and accuracy was never an MD issue. So either MDs were severely op for months now or they forgot about travel time and MD's are gimped now without considering how the changes effect different weapons differently.
The scariest part is that no alarms were set off by CCP in any test sever apparently, which ultimately makes me worried if anything has been tested with 1.7. It could also be that CCP has some distant build where everything works with all the appropriate mechanics and didn't see this coming, I honestly think CCP's balancing team is a two man unit theory crafting what sounds good from a top down approach. I think CCP would benefit by hiring a bunch of kids and stick them with one suit and one weapon and see how they perform.
Thoughts? maybe the CCP balancing team uses mainly ARs?
but seriously, i dont understand how they didnt see this when testing. ive talked to some fellow scouts and they've told me that there is no noticeable difference in nova knives hit detection. Shotguns apparently are working, but now an AR can kill a scout running at almost 10.5 m/s in under one second.
this game caters to anyone who uses an assault rifle. that is pretty much the easiest way to win at this game. patch after patch the AR gets buffed and everything else nerfed, even if indirectly. for example, in 1.3 there was a glitch that made it possible to sprint and charge Nova Knives at the same time. after the glitch was leaked, CCP promptly removed the glitch and simultaneously broke the hit detection on them as well. this all happened at the same time aim assist came in, putting scouts (and heavies) on the bottom of the food chain. the true scouts adapted and took on the world (literally) and won almost every time.
1.6 was supposed to be the patch that fixed Nova Knives. all of us scouts were so excited about this. it's almost typical that CCP failed to fix them AGAIN while at the same time further decreasing the TTK for the Assault Rifle.
i honestly have no idea what makes them think that doing this will draw in players, because if you know me, i am quite loyal to this game and always try to give it the benefit of the doubt. but this is really getting old.
based on past experience, 1.7 will promise big things, but will not live up to them.
all i can hope for at this point is for CCP to prove me wrong...
